what we've learned
Obsidian is not a crystal but actually black volcanic glass that formed when bubbling violent explosions of magma erupted from earth and cooled where it fell. Treasured in differing capacities across time and space, there is evidence that this glassy sheen material was bladed in prehistoric times, used as glassware by ancient Romans, and even alluded to “Tezcatlipoca,” an Aztecan deity translating to “Smoking Mirror,” representing the multi-dimensional portal that black Obsidian’s lustrous reflection provided access to.
When Obsidian is skillfully tipped and placed under an electron microscope, Obsidian’s blade remains smooth and evenly pointed which is ideal for crucial medical procedures such as heart surgery, as they are many times sharper than even the sharpest medical grade scalpels whose blades are actually irregular and jagged when viewed under the same lens.
Had chaotic and explosive lava not emerged out of a volcanic pit of hell to find grounding and use it to transform its temperament into a lustrous, opaque glass that cannot be dulled, Black Obsidian wouldn’t exist.

FYI: Things to Note
Please also note that the photos used in our product listings represent a portion of our inventory and unless otherwise stated, the item you receive may vary slightly in color, shape, size, and pattern– as each stone/crystal/mineral is unique and one of a kind.
Please note that we do not offer any products that have been heat-treated or color-treated. It’s not our thing. We’re strictly sellers of Earth-produced minerals and only sell what we believe in. We’re also mindfully particular about where and who we source crystals from and spend a ton of time procuring each specimen to ensure ethical alignment. We refuse to sell lab grown or questionable materials and specialize in limited items of low quality because we deserve nice things that are sourced in a safe, meaningful, and healthy way.
